Is it better to exercise in the morning or in the afternoon?

What is the best time to do sport and get fit? On the basis that what is really important is to get into a habit that includes regular exercise as part of our healthy routines, when to exercise and at what time of day is one of the most hotly debated topics: early morning? mid-afternoon? before going to bed?

First of all: Everyone is different

Doing any physical activity depends above all on one’s time availability. Although there are other factors at play such as diet, rest, sporting discipline, etc., the main thing is to be consistent. By exercising regularly, you can achieve your desired goals, whether it is weight loss, muscle mass gain or body toning.

We give you a little preview of this article, and that is that many studies argue that exercise in the morning brings more benefits than those who choose to do it in the evening. Even so, this research is not really conclusive. What is clear is that the best time to do sport will depend mainly on the objectives of each person and their level of demand.

SPORT IN THE MORNING OR IN THE AFTERNOON?

It is always recommended to do physical exercise away from meal times. That is why the morning is the best time for this. The morning is ideal for joint flexibility and aerobic endurance work, after a good warm-up and a healthy, light breakfast. In addition, morning exercise helps people to establish a more regular routine. This avoids commitments or obligations that may arise during the day when exercising. On the other hand, the downside of exercising in the morning is the increased risk of injury or reduced efficiency in activities. This is due to the lower body temperature at that time of the day.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DO SPORT AT NIGHT?

Nothing wrong, on the contrary. The fact that most experts recommend physical activity in the morning does not mean that it is wrong to do it in the evening. Both morning and evening exercise have their advantages and disadvantages. In contrast to the morning, body temperature and hormone levels are at their highest in the afternoon. Physically, the body is at the best time for sport. The body can be pushed harder and thus achieve better results in terms of endurance and muscle mass.

In the afternoon there is an improvement in energy and neuromuscular efficiency. The body’s activity level and hormone levels increase and this limits the risk of injury. Contraindications to late-night sport include the fact that high-intensity exercise can affect the sleep rhythm and delay the need for sleep. The production of high levels of adrenaline can play a dirty trick in the form of insomnia.

I SAID IT!

Like everything in life, there are pros and cons. The same goes for this dilemma: Exercise in the morning or in the evening? Neither option is better than the other. And even though most experts recommend doing physical activity in the morning, at Valy Cosmetics we believe that the most important thing is to be consistent, and for this it is important to find the best time of the day to give the best of ourselves in each and every workout.
